Success for Crowland Dance Company after winning 17 trophies at Incredibly Cool Events competition.

Children from Crowland and the surrounding area have enjoyed success at their first ever dance competition.

Crowland Dance Company brought home 17 trophies from the Incredibly Cool Events competition held in Peterborough last weekend.

In total, 60 children from the dance company impressed in range of dance styles, including hip-hop, cheerleading (Pom) and street dance.

However, the good news got even better as four of the dancers, Millie Warner, Natalee Hammond, Phoebe Judd and Thea Doyle, all won first prizes and they will now go on to the national championships in Stoke-on-Trent next month.

Nikita Hudz, head coach of Crowland Dance Company, said: “I’m extremely proud of all the children and their hard work in classes leading up to the competition.

“They were nervous before the competition, but now they are asking me ‘When is the next one going to happen?’”

This was Crowland Dance Company’s first competition after Nikita and fellow coach Beth Mason started the group in April 2018.

Thea took first place in the Youth Solo section, Phoebe came first for Youth Hip Hop Freestyle, Millie won the Minis Pom Dance Freestyle and Natalee topped the Tinys Hip Hop Freestyle contest.

There were also wins for Elizabeth Purdy and Imogen Gale in the Youth Duo competition, Danielle Dixey and Stephanie Buckberry in the Youth Duo Hip Hop.

Nikita said: “Some of the children had never danced before and some had danced a little bit.

“Nearly all of the children are from Crowland, but some are from Deeping St Nicholas and Deeping St James as well.

“They were simply amazing, across a mixture of dance styles, and some of the children told their parents that it was the best day ever for them.”

Second place trophies were won in Tiny Pom Dance, Mini Pom Dance, Youth Street Dance and by Ella Bennett in Minis Hip Hop Freestyle.

Third place trophies went to the Youth Pom Dance group, as well as Emily Bale in Minis Pom Dance Freestyle and Karolina Gren in Minis Hip Hop Freestyle with another Crowland dancer, Faith Colley, coming fourth.

Nikita said: “The children have done Crowland proud and they will be performing some of their routines at the Crowland Show next month, as well as entering other competitions this year.”
