Long Sutton personal trainer to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats for Shine Lincolnshire mental health charity
A personal trainer from Long Sutton is preparing to ride the entire length of Britain for a charity close to his heart.
Jordan Stoughton (32) is preparing to put himself to the test when he cycles from Land's End to John O’Groats in aid of Shine Lincolnshire.
The challenge is organised by Chapeau Events and is taking place over ten strenuous days in September.
Jordan has previously participated in numerous sessions around Europe, one of which included The London Marathon.
He was inspired to take on previous challeges for cancer charities after sadly losing his grandad and cousin to the disease.
The 2024 route is 1,000 miles, with the shortest day averaging at 70 miles and the longest day at 111 miles.
Jordan said: “ It’s not a race - just finishing it would be an achievement.”
Shine Lincolnshire aims to support people with poor mental health to live well.
Jordan said: “ I woke up one morning and wanted to do something for a mental health charity.
“ After struggling with my own mental health, I wanted to raise awareness for people struggling with it and those affected by it.”
Jordan added: “People should definitely talk more and raise awareness for mental health and not be so opinionated about those who are suffering.”
In preparation for the cycling event Jordan will take part in endurance and stamina training on his bike and in the gym.
He said: “ I’m feeling quite excited however, I am not looking forward to the aftermath as my body will be very sore, it’s quite daunting.”
Shine Lincolnshire is a county wide charity offering a range of supporting services.
