Roadworks on the A151 at Whaplode between Spalding and Holbeach

Motorists have reported more delays on a busy road that is regularly dug up for roadworks.

There are three-way temporary traffic lights in Whaplode — affecting traffic on the A151, with queues in both directions this morning.

There have been works in and around the village at regular intervals in recent years, often leading to delays for traffic. The current set of works are ‘utility and maintenance’ repairs from gas firm Cadent.

One frustrated motorists told this newspaper: “I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve had temporary lights at Whaplode.

“The phasing seemed to be wrong this morning as no-one seemed to be moving for long periods.

“And, of course, there was no-one there actually doing any work at the site either this morning or last night.”

The works are pencilled in to last from yesterday until Monday (December 16).
