Crowland GP selected as unsung hero

A local GP has been selected by Pulse as one of its 50 unsung GPs around the country, following a nomination from a patient.

Dr Fleur England, GP Partner at The Abbeyview Surgery in Crowland, was nominated for treating every patient “as if she has all the time in the world”. She was praised by the patient for her “instant adaptation to new ways of working” and described as “a credit to the profession.”

Pulse, which is a monthly magazine and website aimed at healthcare professionals, would usually focus every year on the 50 most powerful GPs in the UK, but this year, with COVID decided instead to celebrate the unsung GPs.

“I was surprised and a little taken aback to be included in Pulse’s list of 50 unsung GPs, but quite flattered at the same time,” said Dr England.

“The recognition from Pulse is great, but it’s particularly nice for a patient of mine to take the time to nominate me, and to say such lovely things.”

John Turner, Chief Executive of NHS Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, welcomed the recognition. He said: “Dr England’s nomination is a credit to her and also to The Abbeyview Surgery, who I know will be hugely proud of her.”
