Long Sutton Hockey Club's Colour Run a huge success at return in 2022, says organiser Luke Proctor
A popular colour run went off with a bang as it made its grand return.
Long Sutton Hockey Club played host to the event at Cinder Ash Park, with participants of all ages being doused in colourful paint as they took on a 5km course.
Firefighters from the town were on hand to spray the 74 runners who turned out, with younger children also being offered a 1.5km race.
About £650 was raised through the event, which will be put towards the upkeep of the hockey club.
Player Luke Proctor, who organised the colour run, was ‘very pleased’ with how it went.
“Everyone was smiling, so I’m assuming they all enjoyed it,” he said.
“There was more of the community there than there were hockey players, so I guess the target was achieved.
“It’s good to have it back on the calendar again. Hopefully we’ll go again next year.”
Delicious barbecue food was dished out at the event on Monday afternoon thanks to Shearer’s Butchers.
The hockey club first launched the colour run in 2018 to help fund the replacement of its artificial pitch, with this year’s being the first event since 2019.
