Long Sutton drink driver punched fellow motorist before attempting to leave scene with her dog
A drink driver who punched a fellow motorist following a collision has appeared in court.
When Jackie Moore’s attempts to drive away from the scene of the accident at Long Sutton were thwarted she left on foot with her dog - only for a member of the public to follow her and point her out to police.
Thirty-three-year-old Moore admitted charges of driving while over the legal alcohol limit and threatening behaviour when she appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (April 17).
Prosecutor Shelley Wilson told the court the incident took place at around 5.40pm on March 6.
A member of the public was driving on the A17 towards Long Sutton when he spotted Moore’s Renault Clio collide with a vehicle driven by another woman.
“He saw the second woman (Moore) get out of her car and approach the other lady, who was still sitting in her car,” Mrs Wilson said.
“He saw the second woman leaning towards the other woman and punch the woman.”
The witness got between the two women and ‘could smell the second woman was intoxicated’, the court was told.
“He saw Miss Moore get back in her vehicle and attempt to drive off’,” Mrs Wilson added.
“She had a dog with her.
“He took the keys from her so she left on foot with her dog and began walking towards town.”
The court was told the witness followed Moore until police arrived and was able to point her out.
Moore have a reading of 80 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, more than twice the legal drink-drive limit of 35mcg.
Moore, of White Acres, Long Sutton, represented herself.
“All I can say is that I am actively seeking help for my mental health,” she said..
“I can’t say anything other than I apologise.”
Moore will return to Boston Magistrates’ Court on May 15 for sentencing.
She was released on unconditional bail.
