Spalding drink-driver caught after he overtook police car
A Spalding driver, pulled over after overtaking a police car in a 60mph limit, was arrested because he tested positive for alcohol, a court has been told.
Daniel Kenneth Taylor (30), of West Parade, admitted driving with excess alcohol when he appeared at Boston Magistrates' Court.
The court heard how on October 5 on the A16 at Crowland, Taylor overtook a police car that was being driven at 60mph, and was pulled over, providing a breath test result of 50 microgrammes of alcohol. The legal limit is 35.
Taylor, who had no previous convictions, was banned from driving for 16 months but was offered the drink drivers' rehabilitation course, which will reduce the period of the ban by 16 weeks.
He was also fined £350 and ordered to pay £120 in costs and charges.
