Drive-thru coffee shop and restaurant plans approved
Plans for a drive-thru coffee shop and restaurant have been approved.
The Costa Coffee chain have been given the all-clear to set up shop off the A52, despite Wyberton Parish Council questioning whether another from-car service was necessary.
The Swineshead Road site will be situated next to a McDonald’s and Starbucks, both of which have drive-thru facilities.
Boston Borough Council, which approved the plans, gave the go ahead for an Aldi supermarket to be build on nearby land last month.
“The site occupies about 0.23 hectares and is located on the southern side of Swineshead Road (A52),” the planning officer’s report states.
“McDonalds and car parking lies to the north west of the site. Adjacent to the site is a two storey dwelling and to the north east lies a small farm shop.
“A retail area around Westbridge Road including the Tesco Superstore, Lidl and B&Q stores sit to the north. To the far east sits public houses and Starbucks drive-thru.”
The report added: “The various elements of the drive-thru are arranged around a single drive thru bay window.
“The building would be accessed via an existing access road (which was constructed to serve ‘a wider retail park development’), oriented southwards from the existing roundabout at the junction of the A52/Swineshead Road with Westbridge Road.”
Lincs Wildlife Trust had put forward a holding objection regarding biodiversity net gain while the report stated Wyberton Parish Council had commented ‘requesting if a further drive-thru is required’.
