Thanks to all who voted for me
An enormous and heartfelt thank you to all those residents of Spalding Elloe (Pinchbeck East and West, parts of Spalding, Pode Hole and Tongue End) who entrusted me with their votes in the recent County Council Election.
1,284 votes was my final total and I am humbled by so much support. I will continue to work hard for one and all.
Grateful thanks also to the staff at the polling stations, some of who had a very draughty day with all the doors having to be open and also to our marvellous elections team at South Holland District Council, who are unfailingly cheerful and helpful throughout the whole election period.
My final thanks is to my family and friends for all their hard work for me, from my three year old granddaughter helping deliver leaflets while walking through town to nursery to my 91 year old mother putting up my posters in her garden – their love and support makes this so very special.

I will keep working hard for you
I would like to thank all who voted for me last Thursday in the Lincolnshire County Council elections.
I appreciate the huge vote of confidence you gave me and I will continue to work hard for you all.
I know it will not be easy to do everything which is required in South Holland overnight, but I will work with my colleagues to obtain the best outcome possible for everybody in our district.
Many thanks also to the many people who helped me deliver leaflets and newsletters throughout the year.
I will continue to produce my newsletter, at my own expense, and try to keep you informed as we move along.

Raise issues at annual meeting
Thank to all who voted for me to represent Spalding Elloe.
I remain a Pinchbeck Parish Councillor and will continue to do my best for all.
The Annual Parish Meeting for Pinchbeck electors is at St Mary’s Church Hall on May 17 at 7.30pm. This is the chance for the people to raise issues.
The parish council was able to cut the precept again this year. I have been promised that this trend will continue and a strong public presence would confirm this.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: ‘Regular old living’
Watching the highlights of this year’s Oscars ceremony really brought home to me how people have adapted to the circumstances of our time while still keeping the core principles the same. The setting and the format were completely different, but it was still a celebration of all that is good in the world of cinema. Of all the winners, the one film that really stood out to me was the winner of the Best Animated Feature: Soul. As its title suggests, Soul deals with the afterlife. After falling into a manhole and slipping into a coma, jazz pianist and band teacher Joe Gardner finds himself in a spiritual limbo, where his soul takes the form of a translucent, turquoise, Joe-shaped blob.
But Joe isn’t ready for the Great Beyond as he was just about to get his big break on Earth: filling in as a pianist for a famous jazz quartet. Through a series of mishaps, Joe and another soul, 22, end up back on earth, Joe in the body of a cat and 22 in Joe’s resuscitated body.
22’s initial reluctance to be born is overcome by the joy of what Joe calls ‘regular old living’: pizza, lollipops, and jazz.
Perhaps, like Joe, we have come to undervalue ‘regular old living’. Joe’s entire sense of worth was geared towards getting that gig, to the point that he had begun to take things like pizza and caring mothers for granted. Perhaps this pandemic can help us to rediscover the joy of ‘regular old living’, seeing friends and family, enjoying the little things in life instead of constantly striving for something to fulfil us.
As Jesus said: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
As we look cautiously to the end of lockdown, look around you, examine what’s important to you, and appreciate the wonder of ‘regular old living’.
