Firefighters say an electrical fault caused a fire at a town takeaway yesterday (Sunday).

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called out to American Burger in New Road, Spalding at 12.23pm.

Two crews from Spalding used breathing apparatus and dry powder extinguishers to put out the fire, which affected an electric meter, fuse box and signage on the front of the building.

The fire was caused by an electrical mains fault.

Fire crews left at 2.06pm.

The smoke has also damaged a blue plaque which was installed at the building.
