World War II veteran and ex-Buffalo driver Ernie Covill was honoured at his funeral today




World War II veteran Ernie Covill was honoured at his funeral today.

A variety of old army vehicles were brought along to South Lincolnshire Crematorium, where a procession to celebrate Ernie's life took place.

The send-off was organised by Harold Payne after Ernie passed away at the age of 97 following a battle with cancer.

Two amphibious vehicles and Mr Payne's 432 track vehicle were among the military transports brought along.

One such vehicle was decorated with a testament to Ernie.

The morning's proceedings began in Surfleet at around 8.45am this morning (Thursday).

Ernie had previously been given the chance to ride in a recovered Buffalo vehicle, which he used to drive until they they were lost to flooding in the 1940s.
