Long Sutton Hockey Club fundraising Colour Run on August 28
Long Sutton will be awash with colour when the town’s hockey club hosts its annual fundraising colour run.
The club held its first colourful 5Km event around Cinder Ash Park and the cricket ground back in 2018 to raise money towards the replacement of its astropitch, and last year added a shorter 1.5Km distance for younger children too.
Event organiser Luke Proctor said this year’s run, taking place on Monday, August 28 promises all the same bold and bright fun as previous years and will follow the same format.
He is urging more people to get involved and sign up to be doused in brightly coloured paint at the five stations located around the course.
“We always try to make sure the Long Sutton Hockey Club Colour Run is as inclusive as possible, hence why we have two distances – there’s no time limit, so people can take as long as they like and just enjoy themselves,” he said.
“They don’t even have to run it – they can walk, or jog, as long as people come and have fun, that’s the main thing and help us raise some money for the club in the process.”
There will be other entertainment going on during the event, which starts at 11am including a barbecue by Shearer’s Butchers and licensed bar.
Personal trainer Susie Piccaver will lead a warm-up from 10.40am and Long Sutton firefighters will be on hand to hose competitors down.
Luke added that there are still opportunities available for local businesses to get involved and sponsor elements of the event too.
Companies on board so far include V M Gedney Newsagents, which has sponsored the colour station markers.
Entrants can sign in for the run at the clubhouse in Park Lane, Long Sutton, from 10.15am, with the race beginning at 11am.
Participants are advised to wear suitable footwear, white T-shirts to get the full effect of the paint and sunglasses to protect their eyes.
*Tickets for the event can be bought beforehand via Eventbrite. Further information and a link is available on the hockey club’s Facebook page @LongSuttonHC or you can call Luke Proctor on 07512641429.
