Former Spalding police officer faces misconduct hearing for 'Snapchat post'
A former Spalding police constable faces a misconduct hearing after being accused of uploading a video recorded while driving to Snapchat.
Matthew Breathwick is accused of breaching police standards of 'honesty and integrity' and of 'discreditable conduct'.
The ex-PC, who was based at Spalding Police Station, is alleged to have 'used his handheld mobile phone whilst driving a marked police vehicle to record a video which he then posted/shared to the mobile phone application Snapchat'.
That incident is said to have taken place on November 6 last year.
Police say he was challenged about the matter the following day and had denied using the phone.
On March 25 this year he was convicted of using a mobile phone while driving in relation to the matter.
He will now face a separate misconduct hearing on Monday, June 21.
Officers allege that the conduct - if proven - amounts to 'gross misconduct' for three reasons.
These are:
- That he committed a road traffic offence while on duty in a marked police car.
- That he broadcast a video of himself doing this on Snapchat
- That he was dishonest to a collegue and supervisor when challenged.
The hearing will be held at Lincolnshire Police Headquarters in Nettleham.
