Long Sutton Parish Council asks for 30mph speed limit and refuses to take part in Spalding Flower Parade
Calls have been made to reduce the speed limit near a new estate.
Long Sutton Parish Council will be requesting the 30mph limit in Seagate Road to be extended along the new development after receiving a request from a resident during their last meeting.
Residents of the Anfield Estate in Lime Walk had also raised concerns about the state of the play area.
Members will be asking South Holland District Council to request that the play area maintenance programme on the Seagate development is enforced.
Long Sutton Football Club has complained about dog faeces on the football pitch and complained about trees in Cinder Ash.
The council has also resolved not to include a float in next year’s Spalding Flower Parade or donate £1,000 towards the cost of enterting a joint float with other parishes.
Members felt they would rather use the money to go towards the costs of a coronation event for the King rather than support an event to ‘benefit Spalding’s economy’.
The council is also strongly objecting to Loosegate Developments to reduce its section 106 contributions for a project in Seagate Road and Wisbech Road.
Members also raised concerns about the removal of habitat and vegetation in Seagate Road by a developer.
A statement from the council says: “Such was the drastic removal of all existing habitat properties were left unsecure, privacy affected and left open to the elements and boundary fences left in fear of falling into the dyke.
“Habitat of hundreds of birds, squirrels, muntjac deer, owl had been destroyed and young doves dropped from nests with one being taken to a sanctuary.”
