Spalding bingo night raises money for wheelchair fund for teacher Nicole Amott
A charity bingo evening raised £473.45 to help buy a new wheelchair for Spalding teacher Nicole Amott.
As reported in the Spalding Guardian and Lincolnshire Free Press, Nicole, who is disabled, was seriously injured in a car crash in May.
She broke both legs in the crash and her wheelchair, which she had been unable to insure due to its age, was damaged beyond repair.
Since then, people have rallied round to help buy a new wheelchair for Nicole, who teaches at The Priory School in Spalding.
The bingo evening was organised by Carol Modd and her team, and held at Monkshouse School in Spalding with the support of South Holland District Councillor Angela Newton.
Around 50 people turned up to play. Prizes were donated from Jackie Sawyers at Springfields; Woodlands Hotel, Spalding; Turners Fish Restaurant; Bennetts Butchers; Indus; Shear Shak; Pennygate Stores and individuals.
Nicole was, unfortunately, not well enough to attend.
But her mum Sally Mason, said: "I really appreciate the hard work put in by Angela Newton and Carol Modd organising the bingo.
"It was well supported and a good evening was had by all.
"We also want to thank the local businesses who donated prizes."
Carol and her team regularly hold bingo evenings on the first Friday of every month. Set up, originally, for the Pennygate Patients Link, they continue to raise money for health charities.
The fund for Nicole now stands at £14,026. The total needed is £21,000 and once they reach £16,000 Spalding Round Table has pledged to make up the remainder of the amount needed. Click here for the Just Giving page for Nicole.
