Spalding Library hosts Marvellous Maker’s Summer Reading Challenge with fun workshops encouraging children to read over summer holidays
Fancy dress, junk modelling and making a memory photo frame are a few of the fun activities to encourage youngsters to read this summer
In partnership with The Reading Agency and Spalding Library, the Marvellous Maker’s Summer Reading Challenge not only entices children to maintain their literacy levels while they are not in school, but also take part in free workshops.
Amanda Reynolds, library manager, said: “We have so many fabulous and free events and activities planned this year and can’t wait to welcome children and their families into our library to take part during the summer holidays.”
The challenge is for children ages four to 11 who can collect stickers and win prizes by reading six books of their personal choice.
Since starting up in 1999, the scheme in 2023 reached 685,821 children and families across the UK.
