Swimming and wellbeing centre in Market Rasen, see increase in demand for ‘swim with your dog’ event
Do you fancy a dip with your dog? Up to 40 fury pooches and their owners will be able to take a paddle together at this popular event.
‘Swim with your dog’ was set up three years ago by Ocean Walker Academy, and has seen a significant rise in interest with people across Lincolnshire.
The swimming and wellbeing centre, which is based in Market Rasen, will host the last session for this year tomorrow (Friday, September 20) from 5.30pm.
Sales Executive Zoe Strong said: “People come back time after time which we are so thankful for. It seems to be the most popular event here. Last year we hosted them spread out across the year but this year we ended up doing one a month.
“It has really lifted and it’s amazing. We love dogs here so it’s nice to be able to offer something they can get involved with too.
“It’s such a lovely vibe and there are physical and mental benefits for the owner and dog.”
The outdoor swimming event includes a one hour session to swim, dip, paddle or walk around the lake. It’s recommended to bring a long leash, dog life jacket and floating dog toys.
Owners, Adam Walker and Gemma Clarke’s love of dogs, helped them come up with the idea. They designed the lake with animals in mind, to make sure it is safe for everyone to enter in and out of.
The site also offers retreats, yoga classes, guided meditations with crystals, open water swimming, paddle sport hire and more.
Zoe added: “People who have visited here before tell me they feel safe and they love the bond it creates. Some dogs love the fun and jump off the jetty, others prefer a relaxed swim and some are here because their owners want them to get into swimming.
“Our limit is 40 dogs per session and it costs £18 for one human and one dog. We get a right mixture coming in and we had one little dog visit us with a shark fin life jacket which was so cute.”
