Sutterton farmer celebrates second award win for Tipplemill gin
Hot on the heels of winning an international award, a Sutterton farming family is celebrating a second award for its premium gin.
Fifth generation farmer Lily Craven (23) is over-the- moon that the gin she launched in September, Tipplemill Distillery, won the Drinks Producer of the year at Lincolnshire Food & Farming Excellence awards 2023.
Within weeks of launching, Tipplemill had been named Best Overall Gin at the prestigious New York World Wine & Spirits Competition after the judges had been impressed by the quality of the drink, which is created using produce from the farm.
The Lincolnshire awards celebrate the hard work, dedication, and innovation of Lincolnshire farming industries.
Lily said: “This award is particularly special for Tipplemill. Our family is deep rooted in Lincolnshire.” The farm was founded in the 1900s by Frank Craven who, having worked as a miller, bought the land around his windmill so his sons could grow the wheat he needed for milling.
“Creating a gin made from our wheat grown in harmony with nature on our farm which is sustainable in terms of our methods, ingredients, and the materials we use without compromising on quality is what I’m proud to have achieved. Being able to share this with likeminded businesses on the night was very special.”
Tipplemill is passionate about farming in harmony with nature and offers the ultimate grain-to-glass traceability taking customers on the journey of how their golden grain is turned into a premium London Dry Gin.
“It is a wonderful feeling having our sustainable approach to farming recognised and being awarded Drinks Producer of the year is a wonderful achievement and testament to my family who have worked hard to ensure heathy soil to grow our crops across four generations before and now into the fifth, I think Frank would be proud of our achievements”.
