Tyrrell’s Farm in Cowbit welcomes visitors to its new Daffodil Walk event
Visitors will be able to tour around stunning daffodil fields at a well-known farm this weekend.
Tyrrell’s Farm in Cowbit will be opening up a daffodil walk on Saturday, March 22, and Sunday, March 23, from 10am - after receiving a number of requests over the years.
The family-run farm hopes it will give members of the public a chance to enjoy the spectacle of a field of flowers at a site off Moulton Chapel Road close to the A16 roundabout (use the What3Words ///desiring.words.traps).
Farmer William Tyrrell said: “We’ve had inquiries over the years from passers-by and many people who drive past the farm often pull up and comment on how wonderful the daffodils look.
“We have decided to open the field up to the public for one weekend as rightly or wrongly we have taken the assumption that for every one person that has asked us about it, there might be one or two others who haven’t – we just thought we’d give it a go.”
Visitors will be able to have a walk through the daffodil fields and enjoy photo opportunities. Entry will cost £2 and bunches of daffodils which have been grown on site, will be on sale.
William added: “It is a similar concept to the tulip fields in Norfolk but not on as big of a scale and instead of leaving them to go to waste, the public can get something out of it.
“I am very keen and excited to find out how it all goes – all weather dependent.
“As farmers and growers we are a little bit more immune to the spectacle of field flowers and for something that is day to day quite normal for us, is completely different for members of the public.”
