Spalding Young Farmers raise £750 at Moulton Seas End ploughing competition
Farmers in a mixture of classic and modern tractors showed off their skills in a fundraising ploughing match at the weekend.
Spalding Young Farmers raised around £750 at the match in Bank House Farm, Common Road in Moulton Seas End on Sunday.
Members were delighted with the turn out to the event which saw a total of 41 tractors competing on the field.
Harry Coppin had the difficult task of judging the ploughing but John Sharpe was declared the winner.
Club chairman Sam Warrick has praised the committee for their hard work in putting this match together in a short space of time. He said: “We had a decent turn out and it was really good to see everyone but it was a shame about the weather.
“This was a very last minute event as this came out of nothing over the last three to four weeks. At the end of the day without the hard work of the committee this would not be able to go ahead.
“They did a cracking job. I would like to thank Beth McKay, James Gratton and Zoe Chappell.
“They really pulled it off for us and did a fantastic job.”
Money from the event will go to support the club, which will be making donations to good causes at the end of the year. For more information on the club please visit it’s facebook page.
