Spalding and Surfleet youngsters have fun in 2009 and 1994
Tasteless ties and festive lights are part of this week's nostalgia pages.
We have delved into the archives to the Children in Need Celebrations of 1994 and the switching of the Christmas lights.
Father Christmas came to Spalding early in 2009 when he switched on the Christmas lights with Lincolnshire Free Press Flower Queen Amy Coates.
Thousands of children and their families descended on the town to enjoy music, fairground fun and a visit to the grotto.
Characters from Polka Dot Academy’s pantomime Peter Pan fluttered their wings at visitors.
Upper sixth form pupils returned to Spalding High School in 2009 for the annual prizegiving.
Headteacher Tim Clark also celebrated the school’s outstanding Ofsted report during the ceremony.
Among the winners on the day was Toby Hill, who won the prize for best A-level results and academic achievement.
Wise men, shepherds, a carpenter and his wife all met in Surfleet during 1994.
Infants at Surfleet Seas End Primary School brought the nativity story to life during the two performances for parents and grandparents and loved ones.
Older pupils were busy too as they donned their glad rags for the school pantomime Cinderella.
Staff and pupils at the Gleed Girls’ School in Spalding rallied around to raise money for Children in Need.
Teachers Norman Wills, Mary Sharrocks, Peter Coplestone and Ray Isaacs (pictured above) wore tasteless ties in a competition to support the annual BBC fundraiser in 1994.
Pupils were also able to support the charity by donning non-uniform for the day.
There were also a number of games taking place on the day, which included some pupils dressing up as St Trinian’s pupils.
This was one of the many events which took place in south Lincolnshire and nationally £12million was raised.
