Coun Nick Worth excited for 2022 Holbeach Food Festival at Carter's Park
Festival season is in full swing, and food fanatics will get their chance to join in with the fun next month.
Holbeach Food Festival will return to Carter’s Park on September 3-4 - and it is set to be the biggest yet.
More than 40 craft stalls will be set up over the weekend after they proved particularly popular last year, with the area behind the football club’s facilities being put to use.
South Holland District Council deputy leader Nick Worth, who organises the festival as an individual, is looking forward to a series of exciting new food stalls visiting the town.
Sri Lankan street food will be on the menu through Kura Kura, while Stamford-based Chilli Fever will be selling some of their signature hot sauces.
Pies, pizza, Mexican food and cheese toasties will also be on offer - and dessert will be covered by Tiffin & Co Bakehouse’s cookies and brownies.
Coun Worth said: “I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be very different this year - there’s a lot more stands there, so a lot to see.
“I guess I’ve got a slight nervousness about the weather, like we do every year. We’ve had such cracking weather for so long now, I’m thinking ‘please don’t break up now’.
“We always get a good turnout from the people of Holbeach, and I’m looking forward to seeing them again.
“There’s lots of people to see, and quite a bit for children and families. You can save yourself a lot of cooking and come and have some lunch.”
Refreshments will be plentiful throughout the festival, with The Old Exchange’s mobile bar in attendance under new ownership.
Fenspirits will provide flavoured vodkas and gins, with the Birdhouse Brewery dishing out bottled beer and cider.
The National Centre for Food Manufacturing, based in Holbeach, will be bringing along two robots to give visitors a helping hand at the festival. One will dish out sweets, while another will help to make teas and coffees.
Coun Worth added: “We have the strongman and strongwoman competition as before, which obviously draws a big crowd in. It’s always very popular.”
Entry to the festival is free.
