Spalding residents send angry message to people who fly tipped goods in Park Road
Residents have sent an angry message to fly tippers who are blighting their streets with waste - as damning new statistics have been revealed.
One fed-up local wrote the stern ‘flytipped by ar*eho*es’ statement in marker pen across a fridge that has been dumped down Spalding’s Park Road, as our picture shows.
Two stained mattresses have also been left along the town-centre road as the battle against these eyesores continue.
Latest Government statistics show there were over one million incidents of fly-tipping on public land in England in 2021/22.
Of those, 1,547 were carried out in South Holland, an average of 16.2 incidents per 1,000 people.
This second figure was higher than nearby South Kesteven (1,195 incidents, 8.3 incidents per 1,000), King’s Lynn and West Norfolk (965, 8.5), Fenland (1,062, 10.3) and East Lindsey (1,592, 11.1) but far lower than Boston where 3,529 incidents accounted for 49.8 incidents per 1,000.
The vast majority of fly tipping cases (1,353) took place on footpaths and bridalways.
There were also 98 incidents on watercourses/banks, and 91 by highways.
This figures, however, do not account for additional fly tipping on private land.
Last month South Holland District Council joined forces with Boston and East Lindsey to sign a deal with Kingdom LA Support to carry out environmental crime enforcement work.
This will see them patrol streets and use CCTV cameras to tackle littering, dog fouling, fly tipping and other crimes.
