Flying Scotsman passes through Spalding and Pinchbeck

Residents gathered by the side of the railway tracks in and around Spalding this morning to get a glimpse of the Flying Scotsman.

The iconic locomotive passed through the town centre shortly after 10am, attracting a crowd of people taking photos and videos and waving it on its way.

The world famous 1923-built steam train was heading out on an excursion from London to Skegness - and its clouds of steam, whistle and apple green paint work proved popular among enthusiasts and onlookers.

The Flying Scotsman's return journey will take a different route - via Grantham - so it won't pass through South Holland again today.
