Spalding Specsavers staff put the fun into fundraising

A focus on fundraising for Save the Children has seen festive jumpers becoming the must-have accessory for Spalding Specsavers staff.

The team held a Jolly Christmas Jumper Day on Friday and they're sticking with their Yuletide knits this week to boost the total raised for the charity.

The Hall Place store's head fundraiser Bethanie Chappell has organised activities including a sweepstake for the chance to win a free pair of glasses as well as a gift hamper worth £20.

And in a 'Guess How Many Candy Canes in the Bowl' game, one lucky customer stands to win a bowl of festive sweets.

The draws take place this weekend.

So far the team has raised £110 but they're expecting that to go higher.

"It's been really good," says Bethanie. "It's made us all feel very Christmassy. Our customers have been very supportive and quite a few customers came in wearing their Christmas jumpers."

Store director Ian Stradling said: "Christmas is the time of year for giving, and we're so grateful for the warm response of our local community.

"This year we wanted to raise as much money as possible so we're hosting some extra games for our customers.

"Save the Children is a fantastic charity that makes a difference to the lives of children all over the world, and we're delighted to be raising money to help continue this work."
