Pinchbeck businessman who died in collision in Derbyshire named




A Pinchbeck man who died in a collision in Derbyshire has been named by police.

Nicholas Stockdale was involved in an incident on the B5053 near Buxton earlier this month.

“The incident, on Buxton Road, Earl Sterndale, occurred at just after 4.30pm on Sunday, January 21 when a Nissan Pathfinder was in collision with a bridge,” a Derbyshire Police statement read.

“The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His family are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts are with them at this time.”

Mr Stockdale, 57, was a businessman who helped run Tilly’s, a garden party hire firm which also operated pop-up pubs in the area, and was also involved with Pinchbeck United Football Club.

A statement by the Knights added: “Pinchbeck United are deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of former Knights girls’ youth coach and committee member and youth welfare officer and indeed club supporter Nick Stockdale.

“Nick dedicated a lot of time to the club before focusing on his business and family.

“Our thoughts go out to his family at this time.”
