Bourne Town Football Club confirms COVID-19 positive test for player
Bourne Town Football Club has announced that one of its first team players has tested positive for Covid-19.
According to a club statement posted on social media last night (Monday, the player concerned showed symptoms of coronavirus on Sunday and is now self-isolating.
The statement said: "Unfortunately, one of our first team players has tested positive for COVID-19 after presenting with symptoms on Sunday.
"Our committee, players, opposition and officials have all been informed and advised of their responsibilities and the player will now self-isolate.
"The club will be performing a deep clean of the facilities ahead of Wednesday's reserve team fixture and will be taking advice on what our next steps are."
News of a Bourne Town player testing positive for coronavirus came two days after the club's Uhlsport United Counties League (UCL) Division One home game against Bugbrooke St Michaels on Saturday, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
It is not known whether the player concerned took part in Saturday's game, nor is it clear whether Bourne Town's next scheduled game, away at Leicestershire side Aylestone Park this Saturday, October 24, will go ahead.
Bourne Town's reserve side are due to play Huntingdon Town Reserves in the UCL Reserve Division at the JJ Mac Stadium, in Abbey Lawn, tomorrow (Wednesday) night.
