Lincolnshire Police says the force is committed to knife crime following the conviction of Boston woman of the manslaughter of Spalding man
A leading police officer say the force is committed to tackling knife crime after a jury has found a woman guilty of the manslaughter of a Spalding man.
Charlie Stevenson (21) was cleared of murdering Christopher Higgs, also 21, at her home in Portland Street, Boston, in July last year. She had denied the charge.
But the jury at Lincoln Crown Court convicted Ms Stevenson of the manslaughter of Mr Higgs, and she will be sentenced at a later date.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Myszczyszyn from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, who led the investigation, has thanked his team for their hard work.
He said: “My heartfelt condolences go to Christopher’s family and friends. I know this has been a very difficult time for them and I hope that the result will give them some closure to allow them to move forward with their lives.
“I would like to thank everyone involved in the investigation, from witnesses to the team investigating. This case highlights the devastating effect using a weapon can have and the fatal consequences that can come with it.
“We as a force are committed to tackling the issue of knife crime in the county with Operation Raptor. Officers in Lincolnshire continue to work around the clock to keep our county as safe as possible from the consequences that knife crime can bring.”
She will be sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday, March 3.
