South Holland's Heather Walker suggests ditching New Year's Resolutions and write a goal list instead
I hope that everyone had a fantastic Christmas and are feeling ready for the New Year ahead.
Of course this is the time of year where everyone seems to be making New Years resolutions. This is something which I am not joining in with.
Personally, I would rather make a goal list and continue to stay on track with the aims I am already working hard towards. This is much more consistent approach and you are more likely to achieve that actual goal.
So each year, I write the list of things that I would like to achieve, which in turn helps to motivate me to put the hard work in.
For instance I’m looking to take part in a 10k run in the spring. But since my last 10k run, which was in November, I haven’t ran outside once!! Running outside is so much harder than on the treadmill so if I want to achieve that goal I need to get this body outside.
Also in regards to weight loss, it’s very hard not to get swept up with all the diets that are flying around. These diets promise dramatic weight loss blah blah blah…..I’ve lost 9.5 stone but that has been lost over two years!

In my mind most of these extreme diets only add more pressure and in reality set us up to fail.
Whereas if we keep it simple, eat well and move more, we will soon get ourselves back in shape.
Let’s make it a very happy and healthy 2020.
