Former Gosberton bakery is now tea rooms
A former bakery will once again become the centre of a village when it reopens later this month as a tea shop.
Mother and daughter duo Sapphira Waterson and Jade Connolly have spent the last year transforming the Grade II listed building into the Victoria House Tea Room in Gosberton.
They are looking forward to welcoming villagers into the tea rooms when they open on Tuesday, August 17, at 9am for cakes and light lunches.
Mrs Waterson said: “It is looking really lovely. We wanted it to be really colourful and a nice place for people to come. There is still a lot of character.
“What we are trying to do is to create a hub for the community where people can come and relax in a high quality environment.”
Mrs Waterson and Mrs Connolly have been learning of the building’s importance to the village’s past thanks to a number of stories which have been shared as a result of the refurbishment.
Mrs Waterson said: “One gentleman contacted us to say that his parents met here while his mum was in service before the war and evacuees had also lived here.”
Baker Mrs Connolly, whose brownies have become very popular in Bourne since she launched Pretty Baked, will be serving up some tasty cakes.
She discovered a talent for baking while creating cupcakes for her son’s first birthday over 10 years ago.
Since then she has created a wide range of stunning bakes for weddings and birthdays - even a Baby Yoda cake.
Mrs Connelly said: “I like baking but my favourite part is the decoration.
“I love doing the sugar flowers for wedding cakes and I really like the creative ones.”
The tea shop will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm; and 10am to 3pm on Sundays.
