Former Spalding cinema and bingo hall on the market
A former cinema and bingo hall is up for sale.
The Regent Bingo site on Spalding’s Westlode Street is on the market with Eddisons.
The venue has been closed since the Covid pandemic in 2020 and suffered fire damage the following year, scuppering re-opening plans.
The freehold property provides 15,007 sq ft gross internal area on 0.695 acres.
“Subject to fire damage in May 2021 the premises have not been in use since that date,” the listing explained.
“Although structurally stable (roof is leaking in part) and potentially capable of being brought back into use (subject to removal of ACMs (asbestos containing materials)), it is envisaged that the property represents an excellent mixed use redevelopment opportunity.
“Pre-application enquiries made of South Holland District Council indicate support for a redevelopment on the site, which sits on the eastern edge of Spalding Town Centre.”
The listing offers price on application but it is understood the asking price is around £400,000.
The building opened as a Savoy cinema in June 1937 and was converted to a bingo club in 1970, undergoing a £200,000 facelift in 2018.
