All walks are free of charge and start and finish at the centre, varying from one mile to four miles and lasting between 40 and 90 minutes. All return at the very latest by midday.

The walks are led by qualified walk leaders and give participants a chance to learn about the area and its wildlife, meet new friends and boost mental wellbeing.

Suitable footwear and clothing is advised and dogs, kept on leads at all times, are very welcome.

The walks are very sociable and refreshments for a small fee are served by the Ruby Hunt volunteers after the walks.

The group says walking:

  • Helps to lower blood pressure;
  • Improves sleep patterns;
  • Improves the flexibility and strength of joints;lHelps maintain/lose weight;
  • Reduces stress levels;
  • Reduces the risk of various diseases and illnesses.

A spokesman said: “We are looking forward to seeing old friends and welcoming any new members as it is such a great way to make new friends and experience local walks. You can be assured of a warm welcome.”
