FREE PRESS AND GUARDIAN/JERRY GREEN APPEAL: Keep on helping us Do it for the Dogs
We are supporting the charity Jerry Green in its fundraising bid to build new dog kennels at its south Lincolnshire centre at Algarkirk.
Last year, we ran the Do it for the Dogs appeal, in conjunction with the charity, and are calling on readers to help push on with fundraising to make the kennel project a reality.
While twenty years ago the centre’s kennels were at the highest standard of welfare, today they require renovations to bring them up to scratch.
The charity helps rehome dogs who have come to the centre for a number of reasons, with new owners.
This week, we meet Fox and his brother Alfie. Alfie was adopted from Jerry Green by Chris Kinloch just over three years ago. Fox has now joined him, also having been adopted from the centre.
“They got on together from the first meeting and when Fox met my granddaughters, aged four and two, he didn’t put a paw wrong,” said Chris.
“They love him. I’m so glad I was able to give this handsome boy a good home. Rescued dogs are the best.”
It is going to cost around £200,000 to build new kennels at the centre and the fundraising still has a long way to go.
We are hoping to raise £4,000 of that, with the help of our readers, to be able to purchase a single kennel. We are not far off raising the £2,000 mark so there is still work to be done.
