Holbeach Drove Store and Filling Station gets a bright new look

There’s a new lease of life and a bright new look for Holbeach Drove Store and Filling Station with a new couple at the helm.

The business is being run by a husband and wife team and its keeping them very busy with seven day a week opening.

Komalar Vijaykumar, known as Manchula, and husband Amirthalingam, known as Vijay, are dividing their time between Northampton, where they have run a corner shop for 10 years, and their new outlet, and are already making new friends in Lincolnshire.

Manchula said: “I was looking for a corner shop or something like that when this came to me.”

The couple are used to selling a wide range of groceries and household essentials but Manchula is sourcing local produce to add to the appeal of the store,

She says they are at the beginning of the selling local goods venture and more items - like eggs - will be added to the range as they go along.

Manchula said: “I am going to add more things - fresh food and veg - and I am going to use the local farmers.”

She says customers have already offered to help the search for local produce.

The offers of help are just part of the welcome given to the couple by local people.

Manchula said: “Everyone is really great and they are really welcoming us.

“We want to do good business here.

“We always work very hard.”

The couple have introduced some hot foods, including pasties and croissants, and hot drinks are available from a machine.

Manchula says the Smokin' Bean coffee is very popular.

Although very experienced in business, stepping in to the Holbeach Drove venture means they are new to working in a filling station.

They supply petrol, diesel, agricultural (red diesel) and heating oil.

Also new to them is the pet food side of the business and they sell everything from chicken feed through to fish food.

Manchula and Vijay, who have two children, opened for business at the new look Holbeach Drove Store and Filling Station on January 31.

They aim to cater for a wide a range of needs as possible so people can do their weekly shop in the premises.

The business opening hours are 7am-11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am-10pm on Sundays.
