Good rating for Spalding Primary Academy
A school described as ‘friendly, nurturing and welcoming’ has been rated ‘good’.
Spalding Primary Academy is ‘placing pupils’ wider development at the heart of what it does’, according to its latest Ofsted report.
The inspectorate visited the school - which has 500 pupils aged four to 11 on roll - at the end of February this year, with a two-day inspection reviewing every aspect of life at the school.
Inspectors judged the school as being good across all categories, and good overall.
This was the school’s first inspection since joining the Infinity Academies Trust.
“This fantastic report is testament to the continued hard work and dedication of everyone in our school community, and seeing all the wonderful comments from and about our amazing pupils is the cherry on top,” said executive headteacher Andrew Raistrick.
“Our aim is always to promote learning that inspires and develops children's curiosity through our broad curriculum and having our work to develop the ‘whole child’ acknowledged by Ofsted is especially rewarding.”
The report highlighted many areas of success at the school, including the high expectations of pupils’ learning and behaviour and that pupils benefit from a wide range of trips and visitors that enrich the curriculum.
It added that pupils contribute to their local community, for example by visiting the local care home and decorating the Christmas tree in the local church.
The diversity of the school community is celebrated, threaded through the curriculum and represented in the books that pupils read.
The report added that the school places pupils’ wider development at the heart of what it does and that the curriculum, along with wider opportunities, supports pupils to develop a strong moral code.
Areas identified for improvement included refining subject knowledge and vocabulary to support embedding knowledge, improving staff expertise to adapt curriculum plans to meet individual pupil needs and, in response to parent feedback, building on parent/carer communication methods.
Gavin Booth, CEO at Infinity Academies Trust, said: “Children are at the heart of all we do in our trust, and everything that Spalding Primary Academy does speaks to this, reflecting our vision of creating communities where everyone is ready to earn and prepared to flourish.
“We have no doubt that the school will continue to go from strength to strength and are proud to support them as they continue on their journey of achievement.”
