Ex Holbeach library to become beauty clinic
The former Holbeach library building looks set to become a beauty clinic.
Plans have been lodged with South Holland District Council to transform the facility in Church Street.
A heritage impact statement prepared by GR Merchant to accompany the application states: “The proposal is to change the use of the library to a beauty clinic, which will include mainly internal alterations.
“The external building will be clad in high gloss exterior architectural panels coloured black, with a frontage sign to replace the timber panel above.
“The panel will hopefully provide a modern look to young, thriving business.”
Designs lodged with the application show a sign with the name ‘Novo Cosmetics’.
The heritage impact statement also explains: “The proposed scheme will be in character with the area, particularly in terms of the design, form and scale.
“The existing listed buildings within the vicinity have been considered when preparing this application and the finished design.
“It is apparent that the change of use will not have a detrimental effect on the neighbouring properties or businesses.
“The proposal complements the character and appearance of Holbeach Conservation Area.”
Four years ago, Holbeach’s library service moved into a community hub set up by Lincolnshire Co-op.
The former library was said to have been built in the early 1970s.
