Sarah Myland, assistant manager and class instructor at the Wardentree Lane gym, said: “It was really good to become a finalist. Getting the nomination did boost my confidence and it was lovely to be nominated for all the hard work I’ve put in to get into the fitness industry.”

After being stuck behind a desk throughout lockdown, Sarah chose to make a change. To kickstart her new career she began work experience at Snap Fitness while still working full time, working towards getting her qualifications and looking after young children.

After the finance company that Sarah was working for went into administration, she knew there was nothing to lose and ‘everything fell into place’.

“It was hard work getting into the industry, balancing the day to day job with family life and getting my qualifications but I wouldn’t change it for the world – I absolutely love my job!”

Sarah added: “You get to see so many different people from different walks of life. Even if you can help them in a small way to make themselves feel better about themselves, whether it be mental health or physical health. Everyday is different and there is always something worthwhile.”

The Lincolnshire Health and Beauty Awards is an annual celebration that aims to highlight the achievements of professionals in the health and beauty industry in our area.

Sarah was nominated for the fitness professional of the year category and was shortlisted for the final. Finalists of the competition enjoyed a special awards ceremony hosted by Jake Quickenden, which took place at the Engine Shed in Lincoln.
