Future secure for Holbeach Food Enterprise Zone after planning order approved by South Holland District Council
The future looks secure for a hub which aims to be the centre for agri-food industry support following a planning meeting about the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ) at Holbeach.
FEZ brings together academics from the University of Lincoln’s National Centre of Food Manufacturing with agri-food businesses in a bid to create cutting edge technology.
South Holland District Council’s Planning Committee voted in favour of a Local Development Order (LDO) to be extended for a further 15 years – and for it to be adopted following ratification at the next full council meeting.
With the LDO due to expire in November, not all the site will have been developed by that time, so a review and an extension of the LDO means the future of the hub will be secure.
The development of the Hub includes offices and workshops to let, meeting rooms, cafés and restaurant and hotel – where they are ancillary to the site.
Coun Chris Brewis said: “It is a thorough report and easy to understand.”
Coun Allan Beal suggested a formal tour of the facility so that members could have a “better understanding about what is there, what can be there and what will be there.”
All were in favour of the LDO being extended and being heard at the next full council meeting.
