Cakes, disco dancing pensioners and planking for Red Nose Day
There were some fabulous fundraising efforts for Red Nose Day around South Holland on Friday.
Spalding U3A raised a splendid £440.01 after putting on a show outside the Red Lion on Friday.
Shoppers were entertained by a semi-professional four-piece band, a pensioner's disco-dancing display - which included a 94 year-old and a lady recovering from a broken back!
The rest of the group astounded passers-by with "their beauty and amazingly daring displays whilst singing and dancing,"said spokesman Steve Field.
The pupils of Holbeach Bank Academy made and brought in so many cakes for their afternoon tea event that they were still selling them yesterday!
Pupils were allowed to buy a cake at tuck time, then the main event was held from 2.30-3.30pm, when parents, siblings and villagers all popped in to enjoy a cake and refereshments for Red Nose Day.
"It went absolutely wonderfully," said Sarah Thwaites, secretary of the school's PTFA. "Lots of local people came out - we had taken flyers round to let them know it was happening."
A splendid total of £480 was raised by the children at Holbeach Primary Academy - a combination of making voluntary donations to wear non-unform...but it had to be something red; the sale of red noses and a cake sale, which proved popular with pupils, teachers and parents alike!
A strong core was needed at Spalding Holistic Hub's Red Nose fundraising evening - with members 'planking' to raise funds.
Yoga teacher and organiser Alison Smith notched up a personal best of two minutes and her grandson, Finlay, also took part with around a dozen other fitness fans.
The planking was followed by two yoga sessions and 20 minutes of meditation - and a total of £250 was raised, which could increase with further raffle ticket sales.
The staff at Specsavers in Spalding raised a splendid £276 from selling Red Nose specs and joined in the fun.
Spalding Academy once again produced an excellent day for its students to help raise money for Comic Relief.
With the fastest peg hands, the balloon-popping prize stall, the penalty shoot-out and doughnut dangling, plus many other table top activities, the school raised £1,147.68.
Heads of House organised their House events and House Captains, Deputy House Captains and the Charity Captains supported the day by running the stalls. A non-uniform day for both students and staff helped to raise the donations. Thank you to Morrisons and Sainsbury's for their continual support of supplying prizes for the winners of the activities.
And pupils at Surfleet Primary also joined in the Red Nose fun and were a vision in their red clothes, red noses and deely-bobbers!
