Gallery of World Book Day pictures from Spalding, Long Sutton, Holbeach, Deeping St Nicholas, Weston Hills and Gosberton
Children from across our area dusted off their best costumes to mark a popular fixture in every school calendar.
Imaginations ran wild, with youngsters - and their teachers - dressing up as their favourite characters for World Book Day.
From the likes of Harry Potter and Postman Pat to Oompa Loompas and wartime evacuees, everyone really got into the spirit of celebrating their favourite stories.
World Book Day was first created to encourage young people to discover the pleasure of reading - and nearly 30 years later pupils just can’t get enough.
To mark the occasion on Thursday, all pupils are given a special token to exchange for a book or to get money off a tome of their choice.
Our photographer Chris Lowndes visited some of the area’s schools to capture the excitement and creativity of the day - and below is a gallery of his images.
