GCSE RESULTS DAY 2018: A tale of two Eptons at Thomas Middlecott Academy
Year 11 students at Thomas Middlecott Academy, Kirton, reaped the fruit of hard work after receiving their GCSE results today.
Staff could have been forgiven for a moment of confusion as two students with the surname Epton were among those to bring pride to the village secondary school.
Megan Epton achieved grade 8s in both English Language and English Literature, more than good enough to allow her to study for her A-Levels on her way to a career in the armed forces.
She said: "Throughout my whole journey at Thomas Middlecott Academy, the support from the staff and the whole school community has been fantastic."
Another Epton, Arry, is joining Boston College in September after picking up grades of one 8, two 7s, two 6s, two 5s, a Merit and a Distinction*.

Arry, no relation to Megan, said: "I am so grateful for all the support I have received from Thomas Middlecott Academy as I couldn’t have achieved my results without them.
"The build up to results day was inevitably going to be scary but it was also full of hope.
"I was eager to get my results as I was certain I had done everything in my power to access the greatest results that I could possibly achieve.
"On the day of the results, I was enlightened to see the smiles on the faces of my teachers after being greeted by my principal Mr Harris and so I was soon itching to open my results letter.
"Through nervous eyes I saw what I'd achieved, with two factors serving to make the day even better.
"Firstly, I'd thought that I was going to struggle with my science subjects but, with the help of the newly-appointed science teacher, I was able to pass with flying colours.
"Secondly, I knew that I'd done my mum proud with the result that even she was emotional.
"I am more than delighted with the results that I've achieved and I have a huge appreciation for each and every one of my teachers who taught me during these last five years, with a special mention to my English teacher who raised me from a low-end 4 to achieving 7s in my exams.
"After receiving these results, I'm now able to continue on to do my A-levels in English Literature, Law and either Maths or History at Boston College.
"I just want to say a huge 'Thank You' to my teachers for making my time at Thomas Middlecott Academy the greatest that it could have been and for helping me get the grades I never thought possible."
Meanwhile, Molly Daniels was also celebrating after receiving a set of results that included a Grade 9 in Art which she will be studying at Boston College.
Jonathan Harris, principal of Thomas Middlecott Academy, said: “Our students have worked incredibly hard this academic year and we are pleased to see an improvement in our results.
"This is a testament to the hard work of both staff and students, along with the ambitions we have for Thomas Middlecott Academy.
“Our young people have certainly shown that this academy is a community of ambitious, caring and resilient learners.”
Rowena Hackwood, chief executive officer at the David Ross Education Trust, said: “We are proud to offer our students a rich and exciting learning environment that inspires them to become their confident, academic best.
“We are delighted to see our students receive their GCSE results today because, from here, they can progress into the world of further education, employment and work towards their successful futures with confidence.”
