GCSE Results 2019: University Academy Long Sutton

University Academy Long Sutton is reporting very good results in English and maths.

More than 47 per cent of students gained a grade 9 to 4 in at least five subjects, including English and maths.

A measure that records how students have achieved higher than predicted results - called Progress 8 - will not be known until later in the year, but early indications suggest it will be a very good score.

Principal Liam Davé said: "Congratulations are in store for many of the students at University Academy Long Sutton.

"We are delighted to report that students at University Academy Long Sutton gained very good results in English and mathematics.

"More specifically, prior to any appeals more than 47 per cent of students have been awarded a grade 9-4 in at least five subjects, including both English and mathematics.

"The progress made in French was outstanding, similarly students achieved very well in BTEC sport and travel and tourism.

"Prior to results becoming validated, at this stage it is difficult to comment upon precise figures for the cohort's Progress 8 score however, indicators would certainly suggest significant gains were made in the final few weeks in the lead up to the exam season and students, along with the staff should be congratulated for their hard work.

"With an extensive building and refurbishment project taking place over the summer holidays; being oversubscribed for the forthcoming Year 7 intake, both coupled with forging greater working partnerships with University Academy Holbeach, these are certainly exciting times for University Academy Long Sutton as we continue to move forwards."

For many students, their GCSE results were passports for the all important next steps in life.

Jodie Rhodes said: “I am really pleased, I will be going to Spalding High to do the A Levels that I have chosen. Thank you to the teachers for helping me over the last five years.”

The long wait for the results was worth it for Tyler Merrison, who said: ”I am very pleased, especially my 9 in maths.”

Happy student Ben Gilbert told us: “I am really surprised and pleased. I have got an electrical apprenticeship and I am really chuffed with these results.”

There was a tribute to the hard working teachers from Lilly Morrell-Bowley, who said: “I was very worried and nervous before all of the exams. My teachers helped me so much, especially Mrs King. I am so happy with my results.”

Michael Hope simply said: “I am just so happy!”
