Gedney Flower Festival: Feeling the heat and soaking in the rain
This year's four-day Gedney Flower Festival at St Mary Magdalene Church in the village took on everything the Great British Summer threw at it.
All money raised went towards helping to maintain the church. As well as the floral displays, there were other various stalls such as cakes, plants, produce, books, bric-a-brac and tombola.
This year's flower theme between July 25 and 28 was “What’s My Line?”
Church treasurer Jane Webb, who lives in the village, said: "We organised it to see if visitors could work out what displays they're depicting.
"Crowds of people came at the weekend. The weather threw as much as it could at us. It was the hottest day of the year on the Thursday afternoon and on the Sunday it rained all day.
"We have done one or two restoration projects in the last few years and we'll continue to be looking to keep the church in good order.
"We are grateful for the support of the surrounding parishes.
"They support us in terms of the arranging of the flowers, the stallholders and the caterers. We have wonderful support.
"The volunteers work hard leading up to the four days of the festival, and the clearing away afterwards."
