‘Genuine error!’ Dogs can use Pinchbeck playing field, despite new sign banning them
Our four-legged friends do still have the right to roam their village park - despite a printing error leaving dog owners worried they may have to find a new spot for walkies.
Signs recently erected at Pinchbeck’s Rotten Row playing field spelled out the spot’s rules, including the order ‘no dogs, except guide dogs’.
Concerned dog owners took to social media to question why their pet pooches had been banned from their regular exercise area - only to discover this new rule was actually just a ‘genuine error’.
“Pinchbeck Parish Council has never resolved to exclude dogs from this green space; in fact, we actively encourage dog owners to use our green spaces, as long as the owners clean up after their dogs,” confirmed parish council chairman James Avery.
“A sign supplier/contractor was commissioned to supply and install appropriate signage at Rotten Row playing field, the Glebe Field and Leaveslake Drove playing field.
“Due to a printing error the signs are showing incorrect information, for which the supplier has profusely apologised, and they will be remedying the situation with some urgency. Currently, this only affects Rotten Row playing field.
Coun Avery added the council signed off proofs from the supplier, although the versions the council approved did not end up on the new signs.
He continued: “They did provide proofs, which we signed off, but these proofs for some reason, were not used for printing.
“I believe it to be a genuine error on their part, and they will be rectifying it with some urgency. These things happen.”
The sign has been temporarily amended with the ‘no dogs’ line redacted.
