Long Sutton's Colour Run is back
Long Sutton Hockey Club’s popular Colour Run is back this summer after a three-year absence.
The club launched the district’s only 5Km Colour Run around Cinder Ash Park and the cricket ground in 2018, to help raise funds towards the replacement of its astropitch.
The event was so successful, it was repeated the following year and now it’s back on Monday, August 29, when runners will be doused in brightly coloured paint.
In addition to the 5Km run, there is also a shorter 1.5Km event for younger children and those who feel the full three miles might be too far.
“It’s fantastic that we can bring this event back, especially as others in the surrounding area are no longer being held,” said event organiser Luke Proctor. ‘It’s great for us to be able to show the hockey club off to the community and get it involved, as many people do not realise we are here.
“We’re still busy organising the finishing touches, but as in previous years there will be a barbecue by Shearer’s Butchers, the bar will be open before, during and after the run. It’s going to be a great day.”
Long Sutton firefighters will be on hand to hose competitors down and Luke added that there are still opportunities available for local businesses to get involved.
Entrants can sign in for the run at the clubhouse in Park Lane, Long Sutton, between 10am and 11.30am, with the race beginning at 12pm.
Participants are advised to wear suitable footwear, white T-shirts to get the full effect of the paint and sunglasses to protect their eyes.
- Tickets for the event must be bought beforehand via Eventbrite. For more call Luke Proctor on 07512641429.
