Town's first ever disability music festival is this month
Spalding’s very first music festival for people with disabilities is just around the corner - thanks to the hard work of a dedicated group of organisers.
Mums Rita Stacey and Alyson Commons came up with the idea for the festival last year as an event for people with all disabilities to enjoy and have fun.
And it will be held outdoors at the Priory School in Spalding on Saturday, July 28, from noon until 9pm.
Rita said: “We’re looking forward to the festival taking place and are currently making sure everything is in place to make this event a fantastic experience for our festival-goers."
They have managed to book a whole host of exciting bands and acts including Crossfire, Matty Haynes, Lauren Porter, Honey Sour, Hooch is Crazy, and Blue Jeans.
“We’re looking forward to the festival taking place and are currently making sure everything is in place to make this event a fantastic experience for our festival-goers."
Others acts include The Lava Lamp Lighters, a band from Peterborough whose members have disabilities; and Ambitions Performers who all attend Ambitions Day Opportunities at New College Stamford. Plus - One Good Eye; DJ Will and Heather Stacey, whose brother Matthew attends the Going Forward Social Group in Spalding for young adults with disabilities. The group has formed a junk band and will be performing on the day, as will autistic performance poet Callum Brazzo.
And there will be food stalls and many other stalls, plus bouncy castles.
Rita thanked everybody who has helped to support the festival and the businesses that have donated prizes for the festival raffle.
Tickets for the event are free and there must be at least one person with a disability in a group to be allowed admission.
