More than 40 flights at Peterborough and Spalding Gliding Club open weekend
A gliding club is celebrating a successful open weekend when more than 40 flights took place.
Peterborough and Spalding Gliding Club organised flights over Saturday and Sunday at the air
Club chairman Mike Newton was delighted with the weekend’s success - which saw individuals go up in a plane with an instructor.
He said: “Families turned up and three to four of them wanted to go up.
“One of the first things we asked is if they would like to have a go and if they are interested in flying they need to have an idea of what happens.
“It is interesting that some people take to it immediately.
“We have people flying in their 60s and as young as 14.”
The club is hoping to attract 20 new members to join its ranks.
