A gliding club is celebrating a successful open weekend when more than 40 flights took place.

Club chairman Mike Newton was delighted with the weekend’s success - which saw individuals go up in a plane with an instructor.

He said: “Families turned up and three to four of them wanted to go up.

“One of the first things we asked is if they would like to have a go and if they are interested in flying they need to have an idea of what happens.

“It is interesting that some people take to it immediately.
