Little Treasures Nurseries Holbeach judged good in all areas by Ofsted
A Holbeach pre-school is shining “bright like a diamond” after a good report from Ofsted this week.
Staff at Little Treasures Nurseries Holbeach have every excuse to play the worldwide hit by Barbadian singer Rihanna after it was judged good in all areas following an inspection just over four weeks ago.
The report praised the nursery for its “wide range of toys and activities that cover all areas of learning”, good quality of teaching, strong partnership with parents and “consistency in children’s care and learning needs”.
Little Treasures in Holbeach, part of a network of nurseries that also include Spalding, Pinchbeck and Kirton, opened in September 2016 and currently has nearly 50 children who are taught by a team of five staff.
Manager Terri Venni said: “We’ve all worked incredibly hard in ensuring that every child meets their area of development whilst they are here with us.
“The Ofsted inspector felt that it was a very homely nursery where the staff have a very caring approach with the children.
“There is a very good bond that the staff have with each other and we also work very closely with parents and partner organisations in getting a lot of information from tracking and monitoring the children.”
Inspectors advised Terri and her staff to provide more chances for older children at the nursery to “develop their knowledge and skills in using everyday technology”.
There was also advice for staff to share more information about children’s progression in learning so they are “clearly informed and consistently challenging” in the sessions they provide at the nursery.
Terri said: “One of my priorities is to be here for my staff in case any issues arise, but also to be a support for some of the first-time parents here.
“We want to bring things up to date technologically and give the older children more opportunities with various electronic consoles, including laptops and computers.
“It’s just about making things that little bit tighter, although the Oftsed inspector was very happy with what we had in place.”
The report said: “Children have fun and enjoy their time in the nursery where staff provide a bright, welcoming and inviting environment for them.
“There is a wide range of toys and activities that cover all areas of learning.
“Partnerships with parents are strong as staff successfully engage them in their children’s learning from the start.
“The manager has good links with other providers that children attend and with schools that they will eventually move to.
“Children behave well and learn important social skills.”
