Grants available for higher education students from Holbeach
Young people from the Holbeach area who plan to go on to university or other forms of higher education can now apply for funding.
The Farmer Educational Foundation is ready to provide grants of £200 per year to young people from Holbeach, Holbeach Hurn, Holbeach St Johns and Holbeach St Marks who want to continue in education beyond the age of 18.
Grants are also available for students of any age who, due to exception circumstances, may need funding for educational trips they would otherwise be unable to afford.
A spokesman for the charity said: "We are a small local charity, with the aim of supporting all levels of education within the parish.
"This is achieved by several means, including the provision of grants for students going on to post-18 education who live within the parish of Holbeach.
"Any student, including those from outlying villages to Holbeach, can apply if they are going to university or college to study a higher level qualification.
"The only requirement is that their home address is within Holbeach which entitles applicants to the normal grant of around £200 per year.
"Students can apply each September whilst they are in education, but we do ask that they acknowledge receipt of their grant or else they will not be considered in the following year.
"We also make annual grants to schools in the area that have children from Holbeach as students.
"This includes all schools from nursery to secondary level, although the amount received is dependent on the number of students they have from Holbeach.
"Once again, we would ask that they give us an indication of what the money will be put towards and how it will benefit the pupils from the parish.
"The charity also has a small amount set aside each year to help individual students of any age who may need support, owing to special circumstances, to take part in a educational trip during their studies that they would otherwise be unable to attend.
"These cases would either be referred to us by the school directly or an individual student could contact us with the details of what their need is and we will review each case individually."
Applications can be made in September and for more details, write to Michael Griffin, The Clerk to the Governors, The Farmer Educational Foundation, 39 Church Street, Warmington, Peterborough, PE8 6TE.
