PICTURE GALLERY: It's A Wriggly Nativity at Surfleet

A musical nativity perfect for young performers who don't like to sit still was the choice for reception and year 1 pupils at Surfleet Primary.

The youngsters performed A Wriggly Nativity for parents and friends with an afternoon and evening show, and the evening performance was packed.

A Wriggly Nativity tells the traditional Christmas story through songs, actions, movements and dance ... and there's a chance to wriggle with delight at each big scene change.

"It made it a little bit more jolly, less formal," said teacher Annette Baxter.

Some 24 performers took to the stage and Mrs Baxter said Eila as Mary and Adijus as the donkey were the ones who stole the show.

She said: "Adijus had the best moves for all the songs and Eila was very good with her words and knew all her lines."

The performances were supported by the PTFA, who served refreshments including juice and mince pies.
